Development Coordinator

Position Title:            DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR
Classification:            Exempt
Reports To:               Vice President of Government Relations
Position Location:      Kansas City, MO

Summary:
Camp Fire USA seeks a detailed oriented individual to be an enthusiastic addition to our Development Team.  
The Development Coordinator will be responsible for gift processing (including donations, pledges, and acknowledgements), grant writing, annual giving and other fund development related projects. Working closely with the Development Director and the Vice President of Government Relations the Development Coordinator will coordinate the annual giving process and support identified Camp Fire USA investment initiatives.

Development Coordinator: Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

General Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Database Management: Accountable for gift processing (donations, pledges, and acknowledgements). In addition, the Development Coordinator will prepare reports as appropriate and provide support to the investment initiatives.
  • Grant Writing and Reporting: Author grants as well as proposal budgets. Work with Camp Fire USA leadership team and the Development Director to conceptualize projects and initiatives for funding; writing complex grants; report writing to foundation and/or corporations and ensuring all is submitted with extremely high quality and free of grammatical and budget errors;
  • Annual Giving: Assist in developing annual giving plan that represents Camp Fire USA’s unique positioning in youth development; writing direct mail content and in consultation with the Development Director, develop and implement planned giving system for current or prospective donors.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 2-3 years experience in direct fundraising experience in one or more of the following areas: prospect research, grant writing and annual giving;

  • Superb oral and written communication skills, as verified during interviews and writing samples;

  • Proven ability to communicate persuasively and translate complex information into action-oriented information for external audiences;

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and proficiency with Raiser’s Edge preferred;

  • Ability to manage multiple endeavors simultaneously and meet strict deadlines;

  • High motivation and ability to work independently as well as within a team;

  • Commitment to quality work, continuous improvement, and accountability;

  • Commitment to the mission and values of Camp Fire USA (www.campfireusa.org); and

  • Personal and professional integrity.
