National Youth Forum

Camp Fire USA National Youth Forum
Speak, Reach, Ignite Change
November 1-4, 2008
Monterey Area in California

Program Highlights

The Camp Fire USA National Youth Advisory Cabinet (YAC) invites youth to the 2008 National Youth Forum. Spend a night at a camp in the redwoods. Visit the Monterey Aquarium. Plant trees near Natural Bridges State Park, on the California coast, and help keep the thousands of wintering monarch butterflies returning each year. Participate in leadership workshops with teens from throughout the country. Stay at Asilomar Conference Center, on the beach in Pacific Grove. Hold a star (fish) in your hand. Have a snack and shop stores in Monterey's Cannery Row. Camp Fire USA teens in the 8th through 12th grades will have a great time this November and take new ideas and skills back to their communities. Members of YAC have been planning this special event-for youth, by youth-and expect to help you build your leadership capacity.

Purpose and Objectives of the Forum

The purpose of the Camp Fire USA Youth Forum is to build the leadership capacity of youth and empower them to serve in partnership with adults to accomplish the mission of Camp Fire.

Registration for Youth Forum

The Youth Forum registration fees are:

  • Youth - $325
  • Adults - $300

The fees do not include the cost of travel to and from California. They do cover all travel, lodging, and meal costs during the Youth Forum.

Each Camp Fire USA council has received information about the National Youth Forum, and the information is also on the Camp Fire USA Compass.

All participants will spend the first night at Camp Campbell in the redwoods and the next two nights at Asilomar Conference Center. Housing at Camp Campbell is in heated cabins, with a nearby shower house. Bring your own sleeping bag. Asilomar Conference Center will have youth rooms that accommodate three to four people. Adults will have double rooms. Each participant will be able to choose one roommate, but cabin and conference center rooms will be assigned to encourage teens to meet others from across the country.

More information is included in the registration packet. Your council will need to submit your registration to the national office. So, your registration and payment is due to your council by September 10, 2008. Deadline for registrations to arrive at the Camp Fire USA national office is September 15, 2008. Since space is limited, youth are encouraged to register before September 1, 2008.

Come meet other Camp Fire USA teens, hear about their programs, and Speak, Reach, Ignite Change with others.
